Eat 4 Today – The Commitment (Day 15)

I’m not going to eat between meals and I’m not going to take seconds. Just today. And I’m going to try this for a year.

The most common negative reaction to my commitment is from people who point out that this plan won’t work at all. Because if I don’t control my portions at meals, I could continue to gain weight.
And of course that’s true, if weight loss was what this project was all about.

But it’s not just about my weight, this commitment has more to do with getting a grip on myself. It has more to do with not just drifting through my days waiting for tomorrow to make big changes. It’s about using the fact that “time flies” to see what could happen if I try something for just one day, and do it again & and again for a year.

For weightloss portion-control is critical, of course. And we can talk about that in other articles. But, this commitment is about self-control. Just Today.

  1. Have they continued to say that as the pounds have disappeared? Have any of them eaten their words? To make them more palatable, I recommend sauteeing one’s more regrettable words in olive oil and garlic and eating them over thin toast.

Just 4 Today I commit to not eating between meals.

  2. Ah, changing habits. We humans are truely creatures of habit. What does it take to change and old habit or develop a new one? That is a subject worth exploring. Katiebird, I absolutely salute your effort. We can only change our way of thinking and acting one thought at a time, one act at a time.
People get lost by worrying about the future, or living in the past. The big secret is that we humans live in the present moment. Being aware of the moment is the absolute best way to consciously bring change into our lives. You have already changed your life by becoming aware… just 4 today.

  3. And you gave me some very good advice – don’t get bogged down with the long list of things you want to accomplish. You live that, and are a great inspiration. And so I continue to concentrate on not having a coca cola or sweetened tea – just 4 today!

Oh, and what Kansas said… :)
