As usual, I’ll be marching around my house for 5 minutes every hour (starting on the half-hour-ish.) It’s been making a big difference to me. Even when I’m not actually doing the walking, I’m not as relaxed — I guess knowing that I’ll be jumping up to walk keeps me from falling into my typical total-rest mode.
Does music help to keep you moving? If so, what are you going to listen to tonight?

Walking, I’ve done, 2!! sets of walking laps up and down my hall. Walking, walking, walking.
I’ve just had a brother, his wife and their grandson arrive and between chasing George and my 2 1/2 yo nephew I’ve walked about a mile so far. I think my exercise quota for both night and day will be increase dramatically.
I like the idea of marching! But I think this evening, I will hop.
And I will not hop to music, but to trash TV. After watching CNN go all stormfront with Uncle Lou down in Cancun, being even more open and candid about his views than anyone ever dared to imagine, trash TV seems to be the established theme of the evening, so right now I am watching Rita Crosby and at 10 I will watch Black/White on FX.
And while I watch all this, I will periodically engage in some sedate and dignified hopping activity.
And another set?
yES!!
Me? I’m Lost.
KB you’re not lost. You’re the leader of the band!
Completely unrelated to exercise, I discovered a treat. It is called Guilt Free or No Guilt or something, they are small fudgesicles with 50 calories for those who count those, and Splenda so there is very little shugga. Maybe none, anyway, the label did not look bad, but they taste good, which is what counts. OK what also counts.
If I still ate snacks, they might be just the thing I’d love. But, all that’s behind me now.
At least it’s behind me now, today.
I did my mile on the treadmill already, along with one set of crunches. I’ll be doing some yoga-ish exercises after Lost is finished. I love music, almost all varieties really, and anything with a good danceable beat usually keeps me moving (once on a dance floor, it’s hard to get me off). I was listening to classical music all day, so I’ll go with something more upbeat, whatever my computer decides to play.
BTW, I’m finding myself more likely to move, mainly because I post that I will. So thanks for keeping me honest
This place really does work!
kbird, you get to have dessert as part of a planned meal, don’t you?
monalisa!! I usually miss you because I’m not around during the day. The exercise blog helps me also and for the same reasons. I don’t always make it back right on the half hour, but I do my laps and report back.
And if it wasn’t for the reporting back here, I might not get to it. I’m moving around a lot more in the evenings now.
I’ve seen Lost: Can we talk about it when you’ve seen it?
Sure — I guess I just wasn’t thinking of a fudgesicles as dessert. Hmmm. . . It’s like a whole world is opening up!
Actually, I have to be very, very careful with ice cream products. I’m not sure I’ve got the self-control to have anything like that in the house.
I’m going to think about this. It might be more dangerous for me than you might think.
Hey katiebird! Fortunately, I get East-coast feeds, so I’ve seen the episode now… just when I thought things were getting a bit sluggish, this week’s episode happens. I’m still processing what happened (I was composing my first post while watching, and got totally distracted before I could finish it). The whole lockdown thingy was just so random, and of course they’d have a map of all the hatches on the back of it, visible only in UV light. I loved Sawyer & Jack playing poker. What did you think?
It was more hatches mapped in the blacklight? I thought the lockdown had something to do with the supplies that were delivered. Maybe to keep the delivery from being witnessed?
And the Goggle Eyed man — eeek
Do you think it would make you tempted to purchase others that are not as “safe?” Safe is how I think of these, because there is so little bad things in them that even if you ate 4, it would be only 200 calories and 12 sugar grams or whatever, I can’t remember the exact number.
But if you think it would make you want to buy regular ones, or other ice cream things that would be a disaster if you ate even one, that makes sense.
I know you told me you had a similar thing about nuts. You know best what is “safe” for you, and it might not have anything to do with what is on the label!
That’s what I thought was being shown, though I have no idea why there was a giant ? in the middle. But, ya, it certainly seemed like a coverup for the supply drop. Which means there’s someone in the Lost world who knows exactly where the island is, right?
Who was the goggle-eyed man? (nearly typed ‘google-eyed’. I guess I do spend too much time on the computer)
That guy that claimed to arrive on a parachute that they keep locked up. Goggle-eyed. He totally creeps me out.
Ah, “henry gale”. Very creepy indeed. I wonder what’ll happen to him in the next episode. Think he was sent by the others, to keep tabs on everyone?
I have a question about those fudgesicles. Any idea if you can get those in Canada, and if they have the equivalent of the chocolate-covered vanilla ice cream bars?
Hi monalisa, forgive me for not saying hi before. I don’t know if Canada has them, I think they would be less than even a Splenda ice cream bar, but I guess it would depend on how much cream in the ice cream.
The ice cream we use now is Breyer’s No Sugar Added, it does have Splenda, and it is 10-15 sugar, and 80 calories for a 4 ounce serving.
I usually have less than 4 ounces so I can add a little chocolate sauce or some reduced sugar fruit thing, Birds Eye makes a reduced sugar frozen strawberries and Comstock makes a no sugar added cherry pie filling, that has splenda and is very good. Add a bit of chocolate sauce and you can imagine that it is black forest cake. The cherries could be a bit more sour, but that is a matter of taste.
LOL I think I told you nothing you asked and many things you didn’t.
Was Henry Gale, Dorothy’s Uncle’s name? And it sounds like there’s a lot of questions about next week. What happens to Hurley? Was there LSD in the supplies? It seemed like everyone was acting very strangely.
He could have been sent to keep an eye on them. Or to be the devil and drive them insane. He does seem to know just how to get under Jack’s and John’s skin.
I’m still contemplating the whole ice cream issue. I know I’m not going to have any just today. But, I don’t know if I can dare to even dream about eating it.
I’m thinking.
Either of you catch when Locke asked Gale how he got the blast doors to go up and he said he didn’t do anything. Ya.
Plus when they came back from where gale sent them and it was a man buried. He’s a plant there.
I heard Gale say he didn’t do anything, but I didn’t catch the question. And I did see/hear the bit about the grave and the man (who is the real Henry Gale, right?)
The new show, it’s on next week – right? Not the week after??
kbird if ice cream is like nuts, a potential problem food for you, please do not even think about eating it.
I only mentioned the things because they have such low calories in addition to the splenda/low shugga thing and I know lots of people here are trying to lose weight, and they don’t suck.
But you know your own psychology, and I do not want to encourage you to do anything that will mess up your commitment.
At the same time, as new products become available, IF you can do so without impacting yourself the wrong way, trying them might be an option.
I am not expressing this well, what I mean to say is, your commitment comes first, but if new things come out that could actually HELP in that, well…
Everybody is different, you might not think they taste good, I do, and so they do help me, because if I want something sweet, then that is something I can have without making the meter mad, but that is within the context of my customized version of the commitment, every person’s will be different.
Family Man should probably not even try them because they are cold and might give him a headache, for instance, and I know lots of times I have spoken of foods that have way too much salt for the people with high blood pressure.
And Hi, Family Man!
I sure hope Lost is on next week, there’s been enough delays through the season already. I did catch that he said he didn’t do anything, and believed him until that last scene.
Hello Mr. DF! Thanks for all the info, I especially like the idea for imaginary black forest cake. Knowing myself, I’m probably better off just indulging in the real thing when I have serious cravings. Which is usually for gelato anyways
.
Thanks for your concern, Ductape — I’m not really worried in an immediate way. I’m just thinking that it might be a good time to talk about the idea of ‘Danger Foods’ and how to handle them. (I really don’t think you can swear off a food you love forever — but how do you know how often is ’safe’)
It just seems a little more complicated than a comment.
Goodnight, everyone — I’ve faded away into . . .
LOL and I was thinking of a rant on the subject of Commitment Customization!
Let’s sleep on it, you do yours on Danger Foods, which is a wonderful idea, you know I will not even have a sip of coke – anyway, tomorrow or the next day, you do your rant and I’ll do mine, and the site will have two more rants!
Sweet Dreams to all!
‘Commitment Customization’ — Excellent.
Sorry I posted and ran last night. I posted just before I went to bed.
Hi monalisa. I’m sure from the previews they showed it will be new next week. I’m glad they finally started taking some direction in the show.
Hi Ductape. Ice cream doesn’t seem to affect my headaches, but I don’t eat it like I used to. Years ago I couldn’t go to bed without a big bowl of Blue Bell ice cream.
poo. You all watch Lost. I am the only one who watches Black/White. I am doomed to discuss it alone. Which I will. I also noticed that last night at least, they replay it from 11-12. The same episode.
The whitemom seems to be making an effort. Whitedad has elevated himself from annoying to asshole. Whiteteen continues to impress with her intelligence and goodness. She needs different parents.
Black parents continue to be boring, and that’s probably why we don’t get to see as many of their experiences as white people. Blackmom doesn’t really look white in her makeup, which is also a factor, I imagine. Blackteen continues to give his parents headaches, and make the viewing audience want to shake him.
