E4T Exercise Blog, Yikes! It’s time to get going.

E4T Exercise Blog, a chance to walk another mile without any effort at all (Or spend the time on the exercise of your choice). We spend 5 minutes an hour walking, jogging, lifting or stretching. And by the end of the night, we’ve added another 20-25 minutes to our exercise total for the day.

We’re a few minutes late for the 1st Set. But let’s start now. Ready?

Update (7:36 pm) – 2nd Set? I’m ready, are you? (Walking the halls, that’s me)

Update (8:28 pm) – 3rd Set. And I just got back from the store and now I find out the battery on my pedometer is dead. Now what?

Update (9:35 pm) – 4th Set. I’m taking Ductapes advise and sticking to the stretches. Not that I’ve been resting, oh no — we’ve been doing that special exercise Find the Dropped Pill: Real Exercise for Real Life adapted for new battery searches. Sadly we failed so I’ll be sans pedometer tomorrow.

E4T Fruit and Vegetable Bar. Soup — I don’t know how I could forget about it.

The E4T Fruit and Vegetable Bar is both a reminder to eat 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day and a place to talk about tips for sneaking more of them into our diets.

And I don’t think we’ve talked about soup. In our house at least, all soups have lots of vegetables.i Last night we had turkey soup (from a turkey dinner we made earlier in the week.) And we had more carrots/onions/celery and I don’t know what else (since I was lounging on the couch when it was made) than actual turkey.

The great thing about soup for me is that it doesn’t budge my blood sugar at all.
So, tonight we’ll have soup again and I’ll have my sliced apples for lunch this afternoon.c What will you be doing to fit in your 5-9?

Eat 4 Today – The Commitment. Stop Creeping Scale Syndrome

I’m not going to eat between meals and I’m not going to take seconds. Just Today. And I’m going to try this for a year to see what happens.

I learned something important yesterday — that it isn’t just ‘my’ commitment any longer. Since it wasn’t possible for me to do it myself, I sent out a plea yesterday asking a couple of our regular commenters to post their versions of The Commitment.> And two of them, monalisa and Puget4 responded, posting their heartfelt stories of what The Commitment means to them.

monalisa and Puget4, thank you so much for publishing your commitment stories. I am especially moved because (we learned yesterday) of all the guest commenters that monalisa could have mentioned, it was Puget4 (with this story) who ultimately inspired monalisa to signup and become a commenter and contributor herself.

And their stories show how important The Commitment (your commitment?) is in the fight against obesity.m Puget4 and monalisa are dealing with the issue from opposite ends. Puget4 lost her weight before I ever thought of The Commitment and has been using her version of it to help her keep it off.T Monalisa has some weight to lose and is using The Commitment (her commitment) to do that.

Both of them have, like me, learned that for some of us weight creeps up if it isn’t closely monitored. From my reading and from these stories and from my own experience, I know that if you want to lose weight and successfully, you have to weigh yourself everyday.l And it seems that this is an important enough rule, that I will have to work it into my daily pledge.

Either that or get some tummy-thing once a week — 4 pounds in one day! (I’m kidding, just kidding — I’m sure it was just ‘water-weight’. Or something.)
