E4T Exercise Blog. Before you stretch out for your after-dinner rest. . .

It’s that time again! Yes, the E4T Exercise Blog is a regular reminder to get up for 5 minutes an hour and get a little bit of exercise. I’ve tracked it and at that pace you can walk a mile just pacing in your living room!

Or you can stretch, do yoga-ish exercises, hop or lift weights — almost anything counts.

Are you interested in joining our evening exercise club?

6:35 pm – 1st Set

8:00 pm – 2nd Set, Yikes! I’m late!!

8:41 pm – 3rd Set (I’m walkin’, yes indeed – I’m walking)

9:27 pm – 4th Set (yawn) OK, it’s just 5 minutes! OK, I said — I’ll do it. One more round of pacing. (yawn.p Then bed)

E4T Fruit and Vegetable Bar.

I’ve tried a number of different ways to work fruits into my diet. Yesterday I got another fruit salad from that diner down the street./ But while I’ve liked it in the past, yesterday it tasted like old socks. An odd flavoring for fruit.t Maybe they didn’t rinse them well before chopping?

Anyway, today I’m bringing my sliced apples with me. They haven’t failed me yet.. I’ve been thinking about having baby carrots someday for variety — but working vegetables into my diet doesn’t seem to take as much effort.
Are you having some fruit with lunch? Or are you more of a vegetable person?

J4T – Expanded and Slightly Revised

Yesterday I achieved my goal, but blew it by having ice cream around 8:00 p.m. … thus gaining half a pound instead of losing. :-(

Just 4 Today I will only eat two pieces of the heavenly and addictive Hershey’s Nuggets (Special Dark Chocolate with Almonds) … although science has proven that both dark chocolate and almonds are GOOD FOR YOU.o I will only eat two servings of chips (one at lunch and one at dinner). I will walk on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes (while watching my previously taped soap opera episode ofi “All My Children” [I've watched Susan Lucci grow up as Erica Kane and become quite cranky if the power goes out and I miss an episode]) … AND I will refrain from ice cream of any7 flavor … J4T

[The lurker decides to introduce herself ;-)]

I originally posted this as a comment … and then found where I was “supposed” to] create posts. I apologize if this is redundant for some of you.-

Hi, our wellness coordinator asked me to post a link to this blog on the district website (www.kckps.org) late last week. When I went in to check it out I was very impressed and delighted to see that this site would be helpful to me, personally.

I’ve struggled to lose and maintain weight for the past 20 years or so (I was skinny until I hit 30). I’ve done Weight Watchers twice over the years since that program seemed to work the best, but I’m not social enough to enjoy the meetings and the online version is also expensive. Mostly, I’ve just spent years being overweight and since my husband is much more overweight than me, not worrying about it too much.

Once I reached my goal last time, I swore I would never let myself gain more than 10 pounds again. SIGH. I’ve proved yet again by gaining over 20 pounds back from my goal that just knowing how I should eat and exercise certainly doesn’t mean I will follow through.

The entries about depression surprised me. I totally relate and did not recognize it as being depression. I just thought I was lazy with no self control.

Just4today I will limit my Hersheys Nuggets (Dark Chocolate with Almonds) to two a day (instead of the eight or more I had worked myself up to), my chip servings to two (instead of sitting on the couch eating God knows how many out of the bag while watching TV), and I will walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes.

Thank you all for being there to help.
