I’m not going to eat between meals and I’m not going to take seconds. Just today.n And I’m going to try this for a year to see what happens.
I’ve been thinking about something kansas said a day or two ago. About the sort of food she was eating (and when) Just Today.i I think it had to do with her mother’s birthday, but I’m not sure.
And I’m impressed.
It turns the idea of I’ll be good tomorrow on it’s head. With that simple phrase, I’m eating this stuff at these times Just Today, she gave herself permission to have fun without breaking her routine of making commitments Just 4 Today.
I hope it worked the way she intended.
You need an occasional “vacation.” Just don’t let it run past a month, like I did. Fortunately, the eating habits I developed mostly stuck. I wound up not gaining any weight, although I could feel the lack of exercise when I got back on the exerbike.
It did work the way I intended. Here’s what I just wrote in your diary at BooMan:
Kb, your Eat 4 Today motto was really helpful to me this week and I could see that it’s lodging itself in my psyche. The day of my mom’s birthday party I let go of all restraint and ate cake and then more cake, took seconds, ate between meals, the whole schmear. But at every moment I knew that even that was Just 4 Today. Instead of thinking, oh now I’ve done it, I’ll be eating like this for weeks, I thought without guilt or angst, “No, this, too, is Just 4 Today. I don’t have to do this tomorrow if I don’t want to.” And “tomorrow” I chose to go back to not taking seconds and not eating between meals. Easy peasy, in a way those slips had never felt before.
Thanks, Kb.
Oh, and J4T I won’t take seconds and I won’t eat between meals! But that’s just for today, you know.
Just 4 Today, I’ve taken one serving of the fiber supplement and one liter of water and walked 2 miles while mowing the lawn, grocery shopping and photographing ponies:
I ran the chipper, weed-eater, and the Mantis, then Mrs. Fetched and I made some progress toward cleaning up the garage. In between, I had only one sandwich for lunch, one chicken patty for supper, and drank lots of water (but need even more).
Now I need to attack the church bulletin before picking up Daughter Dearest from her job and going to bed.
We did chipper stuff last weekend. Which is good because it was above 90 today and I don’t think we could have done it if we had to.
Was it hot where you are?
