September 4, 2006 — Just 4 Today

Just 4 Today, I’ll drink 2 liters of water (I’ve drunk nearly 1), take my fiber supplement twice (I’ve taken it once), walk 3 miles [update: I've walked 2 miles!] and spend some time with my mother (she’ll be 82 tomorrow!)

What are you going to do today? It could be anything you know — it doesn’t have to be food related.

Also today, I’m saddened by the death of Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter.


This year I need a belt to wear last year’s Skinny Jeans

Just today, I’m not going to eat between meals and I’m not going to take seconds. And I’ll weigh myself & use the tools and guidance from The Hacker’s Diet to help me reach (and keep) my goal.

Labor day last year I had barely started this journey. I hadn’t shared my grand plan with anyone outside the family. And had hardly mentioned it to them. I had yet to add my mantra (I’m not eating between meals and I’m not taking seconds) to my public signature for forums, blogs and email messages. I hadn’t started posting public updates on my progress. And it certainly hadn’t occured to me that I would start a blog to discuss my goals and issues in such detail on a daily basis.

In fact last year at this time I’d hardly started to lose weight.

Everything’s different now. I’ve been working toward my weightloss goal for so long the pressing issue is trying to make my commitment new and fresh and vital. I know what needs to be done — I just don’t always want to do it anymore. (sigh) That’s not quite true, I want to do it — sometimes though I wish I could hire an assistant to take it over.
