Just 4 Today, I’m going to walk 6 miles (I’ve got to, just got to do this), take my fiber supplement twice and drink 2 liters of water. Oh, and weigh myself & log it.
With the holiday weekend (such as it was) behind me, I’m ready to focus on my goal of losing 10 pounds by New Years eve. And for the last few days I spent my meditation time thinking about how to organize my time to make reaching this goal more likely.
Last year, when I lost the bulk of the weight I’ve lost, I walked for an hour in the morning before work and then for another hour throughout the day (Two 15-minute breaks and 1/2 hour at lunch.) But I lost that morning walk when I started this blog. Writing my commitment post just took too much time.
This weekend I decided to start writing the commitment post in the evening. I’ve resisted doing this because it starts with my affirmation. And writing the affirmation is one of the most important parts of my day. I don’t want that to change. It’s not going to change. The solution is so simple, I’m embarrassed to report it (but simple reporting solutions is one of my jobs.) I’ll type my affirmation into the post in the morning before I publish it. Silly, isn’t it? All these months I thought I was tied to the computer for 2 hours every morning. And all I had to do was make one tiny shift in my perception of my responsibilities.
So, this morning I’ve already:
- Typed my affirmation into the commitment post I wrote yesterday
- Walked 1.5 miles
- Taken my fiber supplement once
- Drunk nearly a liter of water
(smiling all over my face)
What are you going to do today? Would a small change in your routine help make your goals more attainable?

J4T I’ll drink 2 liters of water. The back is feeling better today, so I’ll start moving around more.
Great post about shift in my perception KB.
Thanks FM — It’s amazing how ‘right’ that decision felt.
I’m very glad that your back is so much better. It’s very exhausting to drag around with a steady pain like that.
Hi KB and thanks. I forgot to say Happy Birthday Mom!
Hi kb! I love your goal for NYE…I think I’m going to have the same one.
J4T, I am going to put seam sealer on my rain jacket so the weather can’t stop me from going for my walk, and I will write for 3 hours (without snacking!) before taking a break to clean the house.
{{CabinGirl}} Wow! It’s great, fantastic to see you here!
It’s going to be so good to have a goal-buddy, I’m glad you’re joining me. And I like the seam sealer idea too. I was just thinking about rain-walking. We’ve had an awful lot of it this year.
I had a wonderful house cleaning experience the weekend before last. Everytime I got restless and started to get a snack I though, “I’ll put something in the washer first” or “I’ll pick up the stuff on this floor first” and the next thing I knew, I’d cleaned the whole house. It was the most amazing thing. When mister and the kids got home it was the first thing they said — “Wow, the house is soo clean”
I guess it says something about my housecleaning habits that it seemed so amazing to all of us!
Anyway, it’s lovely to see you again!
Happy B’day to your mum!
Thanks TechZ — She and dad went out for a good steak dinner and it sounds like they had a great time.
