Just 4 today,
- I’ll drink 2 liters of water (I’ve drunk 2/3)
- walk 3 miles (I’m going to recalibrate the step measurement for my podimeter too — I think it’s off lately)
- weigh myself (Done!)
- take my fiber supplement twice (I’ve taken it once)
- Get started tracking my diet with Performance Diet (They’ve got some interesting ideas, it’s not your typical software company)
Also, I’ve got more tweaking to do on our new template — I know we’re missing the recent comments. I think that recent posts are pretty obvious since they’re right there on the home-page — What do you think? And I’ll probably move things around a bit — or I might not. I go back and forth on that.
Are there too many Categories? Now that they aren’t in a drop down box they’re more accessible. But is it too much?
I’ve loved hearing all the complements on the new look — but I’d also like to hear what you think about functionality and useability.
And, as always — What are you going to do today?

J4T I’ll drink 2 liters of water and I’ll be walking more than I have been.
KB I like the categories on the side. It makes it easy to just go down the list and see what’s there.
This is just a thought, but I know you moved the login down so people wouldn’t think they had to log in to make a comment. Before you pointed out to me where it was, I made a comment without loggin in. Where you have the required fields for name and email, I was thinking about that.
When I first got on the Internet and even now if I go to a new site that says my email address is required, I’ll usually leave the site without going any farther. I don’t know if this is a required part of the template or if it’s for spam, but it seems to me some lurkers might not comment because of that. As I said, that’s just a thought and I might be totally wrong.
Good Morning FamilyMan — Any particular reason for the extra walking?
On the email thing, what do other people think? Making it a requirement is a default of the software. And I actually thought it was a pretty normal requirement.
Well, I take that back — I guess Blogger sites do allow anonymous comments. . .
FM, it’s not really a spam issue. My thinking is that here we’re talking about very personal and intimate issues. And that I would feel uncomfortable talking about these things (directly) with people who are faceless. While people could choose ‘anonymous’ as a username even when providing an email address, I’ve never seen it happen.
It was a big step (for me) to take off the ‘registered users’ requirement for commenters (it’s still necessary for posting.) And unless there’s strong feeling from our group, I’m inclined to keep this requirement as is.
What do you think?
Hi again KB. I hope you don’t think that was a criticism because I think the site is great. I can see it would be a big step to change the registered users comment requirement. As I said, it was just a thought and I might be totally off base. It would be interesting to see what others thought about it though.
The extra walking is going to be getting FMom to the Orthropedic Doctor. That is, if I can get her to go. She was already saying she’s isn’t going today, so that will be the biggest job I have today.
I dont require registration to post comments on my site, and Akismet+SpamKarma2/BadBehavior2 keep the baddies out. I do require as do most blogs, an email addy for posting.
Well, it’s not like I’m doing anything with it…. hm?
I guess it doesn’t really have an effect on accountability, does it?
I just checked my options and it seems I don’t have to require eMail, but it’s tied to Name. I’d like to require name at least. TechZ — how does that work on your site? I don’t recall. Are the boxes still there, but the info just not required?
The boxes are there and it seems I do need email!
I’ve left it to defaults as to how it came with WP & my theme.
Dang it! I thought you had a plug-in with a work-around solution….
I am going to add a ‘Contact Me’ box — there’s a form that’s a feature of this template, I just haven’t implemented it yet. So if people are inclined to fret about it, they can tell me. (of course I won’t be able to reply without an email address….)
Maybe we’re worrying about problems that don’t actually exist?
That’s most often the case katiebird, worry about thins unncessarily, we all do it
I use the Contact Form plugin as well, it’s great.
TechZ,
I just got it (the contact form) going last night.
In fact last night was a big night. I went through all my changes to the template making sure it was all xhtml compliant. And now everything I can control is. The Amazon & countdown clock scripts fail — but I don’t want to take those out.
So, I don’t do as well at that test site you mentioned at your blog.
Do many people contact you through the form?
I get a fair number of emails via the Contact Form, I think it’s necessary for any blog. Displaying your email address, just leads to spam.
The site looks great katiebird, congrats
