Just 4 Today I’ll weigh myself (done!) walk 3 miles (at 10, 12 & 3) drink my fiber supplement twice (And today I didn’t have to jump up to drink it as I typed this — I drank it this morning as soon as I woke up. And I drank it last night as soon as I walked in the door after work) and drink 2 liters of water (I’ve drunk 1/3)
Flying Time Update (Wednesday Edition)
This is the big day! [MORE]
Baddish News (get it out of the way): My weight is the same as it was a week ago.
Fantastic News: Several things are coming together that made this a powerfully successful week:
- Setting a time for each of my walks & committing to them each morning
- My renewed efforts to write The Commitment posts every morning
- Creating The Eat4Today Lounge as a place to discuss more frivolous things.
- This weekly check-in
- Seriously: Not eating between meals and Not taking seconds.
So far I’m only committing to a 3 mile walk everyday. But my 3 walks actually add up to just about 5 miles. And if I keep that up everyday (I will) the walking alone will be enough to jolt me into weight loss mode. I always lose weight when I walk over 35 miles a week.
Also, I’ve discovered that I don’t want to waste the calories I’ve burned walking by eating anything extra. It’s weird, I know — but I don’t want to “spend” those calories on food, I want to “spend” them on weight loss.
So that’s where I’m at this Wednesday. How did you do with your goals this week?

Mornin’, Katiebird. Sounds like you had a wonderful week. I’ve made that mental step to commit. Like you have different elements to your commitment, I’m beginning to focus on elements that I can commit to. The great thing about walking is that you don’t have to commit to a bazillion miles, just do a little more than you’re doing now. Oh, I need this so badly. My good news for this week is that I’ve found the inspiration to make a new commitment. Woohoo.
Now here’s a newsflash for you: maybe you didn’t loose weight, but you didn’t gain an ounce this week… that sounds like good news to me.
K, here goes nothin’… I commit to walking for 1/2 hour today. I commit to doing my favorite yoga stretches for 15 minutes. I commit to drinking more water and less everything else(especially coffee). I commit to not eating between meals. Just for today.
I feel better already.
Oh Nag — you are so right. I didn’t gain an ounce (it was touch and go over the weekend, though) and that was great (and why I labeled it baddish, not bad)
I’m thrilled about your Just4Today goals. Let’s both check in tonight with updates. OK?
OK, sounds like a good idea. Now it’s serious. I’ve got my game face on and I’m off to day of cleaning projects.
By the way, it’s time for my weigh in. I’m going to try to use the scale without getting obsessed. That will have to be part of my commitment.
I will weigh myself once a week. To start. I’ll work towards once a day as a good habit.
Don’t know when, but I’ll check in later.
I’ll be here — I’ll try to check in around 7 central time.
Sorry I’m late! Been busy checking out Patrick Murphy (PA-08) today, and then CBtY hurt his foot on the school field trip…sounds like you’re back on track with your walking, katiebird! And Nag, I’m glad you’re joining us in our weekly check-in!
I walked 27 miles last week, bought a scale, finished 2 work projects, and lost 1.5 pounds.
Which I promptly celebrated with an oreo cookie. Sigh.
Wow, CabinGirl — What an inspiration! And it makes me think, 10.5 weeks at 1.5 pounds a week — 16.75 pounds by New Years!
Whick makes 10 pounds by New Years totally do-able.
