You On a Diet, the book

I’ve started reading the book, “You on a Diet”, by Michael F. Roizen & Mehmet C. Oz. And beginning tomorrow, I’ll begin a discussion of the chapters as I read them.

If you’re interested, please find a copy at the library or bookstore and jump right in.

  1. Did you see these guys on Oprah talking about the book. Oh! Itwas absolutely fascinating. They were on again this week too. I haven’t gotten to my TiVo yet to see it. I like these guys approach in that they talk about weight loss in a healthy and realistic way. I never knew about the omentum where most of our belly fat is stored. I want to get the book and read it too. I’m off to the store so I can join your discussion ;-)

  2. Hi Stephanie,
I wonder if Oprah is on anytime in the evening. I’m almost always at work so I don’t get to watch her.

You said you Tivo her. I don’t have a Tivo, but I guess I could set a VCR to tape her. I hadn’t thought of that.

I found the book when i was browsing at Borders the other day and thought it looked very good.

I think I’ll do a chapter (or section) every day or so. Or couple of days. We’ll have to see how it develops. I don’t want to drag it out forever.

!!! And I’m thrilled that they’ll be two of us at least.

  3. In my area, the Oprah show also comes on at 1am. That is real late too.
Get a Tivo! It’s the BEST investment. I can’t live without mine. I love the ability to fast forward through all those quick fix diet and weight loss commercials ;-)

  4. Hi Steph,
We’ve got the timeshifting thing down pretty pat with the VCR. It’s pretty much a necessity for us since they seem to put the things we watch at all the same times.

And we’ve got VCRs on every TV, so we can easily tape stuff without it interferring with what we want to watch.

I feel funny enough having all my Internet Searches Monitored and a cable company knowing everything I watch on TV without adding yet another corporate entity to the list of people who know more about me than I do.

That’s my main reason for not getting TIVO.

  5. Havent seen the book here in Montana, tho not surpirsing :)

    Looking forward to the dialogue
    happy weekend all

  6. Hi Katiebird,

Great idea. I saw the authors a few weeks ago on Oprah and found their discussion fascinating. Don’t know if I will join in with the reading, but I’ll definitely be reading your posts. I’m a bit overcomitted and working to clean up those projects.

    Thanks.
    Sandy

  7. Hi Sandy and GP — I’m getting ready for the first post now. I’m running a little behind because we’ve got to buy a new refrigerator.

I’m still aiming for later today, but it might be tomorrow morning.
