Just 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (once!!!), drink 2 liters of water (1/3 so far), walk 3 miles (I did it yesterday: 3415), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.
Looking at my situation from the dark-side, I’m not doing so well — I’ve been wanting to lose more weight, and I haven’t. It’s like I’m stuck. And not only that, I feel like I’m barely hanging on to the place I’m at by my fingernails . . . . When I think about this, the world seems dark and sad.
But, I can look at it from the light-side too — I’ve been weighing myself everyday. So I know that my weight is staying steady. Hanging on by my fingernails means that I haven’t gained any weight at all in months (I’m pretty sure the weight gain is totally attributable to my illicit snacks from the bakery).
It’s having this place with friends to share their ideas and progress. And a place to think through ideas. And writing them down here makes them more real and serious, I think. All this has made a huge difference.
I keep thinking about Hitting The Wall….
What are you going to do today?
Good morning KB.
J4T I’ll drink 2 liters of water and give it a good try to get some yard work done.
KB I agree with you about a place to put your ideas down and to talk with friends about the ups and downs you go through. Whether it’s with weight or other.
I’m going to write up a diary about the Effexor/migraines, but I want to see first how long the effects of quitting the Effexor will take.
Hi FamilyMan, I’ve been thinking about your Effexor situation. I know how difficult it must be because Mister recently had to make a switch in his blood pressure medication and the doctor gave him a recipe for exactly how to ease between the two medicines. She wouldn’t let him just stop the first one. It was like a balancing act.
I really think that without Eat4Today and my (nearly) daily postings that I would have gained ALL that weight back again. In spite of all my intentions and even with the daily weigh-ins.
I really think it’s this group that has made things seem more immediate. A problem for today — not tomorrow.
Thanks for everything FamilyMan — xxoo
I can understand with BP medicine getting everything balanced during the transition. With some people it’s hard to keep the BP normal even with the right medicine. I hope it’s working for the Mister.
I agree with you again. I think just the checking in here and stating what you’re going to do for the day or morning is a boost to keeping yourself on track. I know I wouldn’t have kept up with the drinking 2 liters of water a day if you and everyone here hadn’t been around.
BTW did you leave for work with the right clothes today.
Have a good day KB and everyone.
LOL! Yes — I’m wearing the right clothes!! (Just to be totally sure, I wore a skirt today)
Mister’s situation is tough. His BP is always very high. I sometimes I wonder if the medication makes any difference. But, I’m sure it would be worse without it.
Hey guys. Mrs. Fetched’s aunt was having some serious BP problems, but they got it fixed. I’ll have to check & see what they did.
Does Mister get to walk with you at all? I can tell you, the exercise helps. A LOT. I have to get back to it myself. The treadmills (at work) seem to do a better job of getting my heart rate up than the Evil Exerbike… or at least I don’t have to work as hard to get it up on the treadmill.
Oh, and J4T I’m going by the library on the way home tonight to see if they have any organic gardening books. I’ll also chug 2L of water (almost there) and finish Jimmy Last-Minute’s taxes (if Mrs. Fetched didn’t get to it).
Hi FF,
Yes, Mister has been walking with me — he’s often the one doing the reminding too. I’d be interested to hear what worked for Mrs. Fetched’s aunt. He has a pretty good attitude about it all — he plays around with diet changes & exercise and deep-breathing exercises. I’m sure we’ll find an answer eventually. But, I worry about it a lot.
What’s Jimmy Last-Minute’s Taxes? Do you do taxes?
Hi FF and again KB.
I was thinking about Mister’s BP earlier, and I was thinking that they have FMom on two different BP medicines plus a diuretic. I’ve been very lucky with my high BP. I’m only on one med and after my heart by-pass surgery it tends to run low now.
As I said I’ve seen people that have a hard time getting their BP under control even with meds. I hope Mister’s doctor find the right med or combo of meds soon.
Hey everyone!
I help some of the people around FAR Manor with their taxes. We have the software, and it’s really not that difficult… as long as you have everything.
As it stands, I was up until 1a.m. trying to get his taxes efiled (server too busy) so I gave up & did it this morning. He’ll have to deal.
I hope the meds thing works out soon too. This can’t be good for his heart.
FF, that’s cool that you help people like that. Some people just hate doing taxes — I don’t mind it myself.
Also, I heard on the way to work that the load nearly broke the servers — Intuit was getting 60 returns a second? (that seems impossible, though — doesn’t it?) I heard it on NPR. But I must have heard wrong. …
That’s exactly what they said at NPR. I did mine via Intuit yesterday and sent them off around 6pm, I think. The website says come back in 24 hrs. to see if it’s accepted, after you have completed your work on the TurboTax site and printed out your return.
I tried to check this morning, but was unable to get an electronic postmark, as they call it, yet.
No surprise. Did it electronically before, and when they say come back in 24 hrs., that’s what they mean.
Hi catdog! I thought about filing electronically last night — and didn’t even give overloaded servers a thought. We ended up printing them and taking them to the all night post office just because we like the community-spirit of the event. We even had them done a little early, but held off on mailing them just for that experience.
I used to do that, but things have changed a lot in the last year. For one thing, the post office I used to go to has closed. And the price of gas is so much higher. But I was still amazed at the number of last minute filings.
The good news is TurboTax says:
“1. THE INTUIT ELECTRONIC POSTMARK.
The electronic postmark shows the date and time Intuit received the
federal return, and is deemed the filing date if the date of the
electronic postmark is on or before the date prescribed for filing of the
federal individual income tax return.”
So, no matter when the IRS gets the data it’ll be marked or stamped (somehow) with yesterday’s date? That sounds good — not too different from the USPS actually.
Intuit verifies you submitted it before midnight your local time, and that’s good enough for the IRS.
So, no worries here !
