Tomorrow I take off for Chicago for my most extended vacation since last October. I have every confidence in my ability to eschew “stupid stuff” for the duration.

OTOH, I have not walked the past couple of days, but anticpate a walk home this aftenoon.

Expect I’ll be able to stay in touch while away as I am bringing my laptop.

    Happy Wednesday, everyone!

kb – saw your comment yesterday (((big hugs))) – I dug out my old contract with myself regarding food control and posted it back on my fridge. It has been a great help. Now i need to find something for the office…

J4T I will drink upwards of 2 liters of water, not eat anything in between meals, stick to salads and veggies for lunch and spend quality time with bouncy ball and ab roller thing-a-ma-bob.

    Have a great day, everyone!

Once again, I’m late saying Good Morning, but hey, I really really mean it! Water. Not drinking much of it. You guys are inspiring me to go get some NOW.

Hi all. No walking today but at least I was reasonably careful eating today.

Hi catdog, Have fun on your REAL vacation. And please do keep in touch — I want to hear all about it.

How did it go, Manny? Is it hard not to snack in the afternoon? Or evenings?

kansas — come on, drink up! The water thing is hard to do, but it really helps make summer seem just a little cooler. I think.

Hi boran2, it’s made a huge difference for me that mister’s been walking with me for the last year or so. Do you have anyone who would be interested in walking with you?

  9. Posted July 25, 2007 at 9:40 pm | Permalink

I’m new and hope to stay encouraged. I will walk a great deal today and drink more water. (Diet coke is more my thing but I am being DELIVERED!)
Walking is not a problem because I work in a hospital and almost sprint all day long. Serious! I have lost 27 pounds so far and I am still focused. More weight loss is anticipated so I look forward to be encouraged by this site.

{{Faye}} I’m so glad to meet you!

Can you tell us something about your plan? Did you lose the 27 pounds from sprinting through the hospital? Or did you change your eating habits as well?

I think just about every person here (at least those of us who speak up) is doing something just a little different. And we’d love to hear what you’re doing.

    (Thanks for coming)

Hey I am on the Weight Watcher point system although I am not a member yet. I will join shortly just for the support. It is the easiest diet I have ever been on. I am bad though I use alot of my points on sugary snacks. I eat something every 2 or 3 hours and i have done extremely well on it because of this. I also admit I eat a non sugary late night snack to keep me from falling off the diet. Those were my weakest areas and WW has been so efficient for this. I know it is not ideal but it is far better than quitting. I definitely stay within my allotted points for the day. Faye

Hi KB. I’ve been walking with 2 other guys at work. It does make things a bit easier.

Hey, boran2 — I just got back from visiting your place (I’m working my way through the neighborhood) I was really touched by that story you posted.

Also, I was wondering if you have a pedometer you like? I use the Omron HJ-112. It’s 2 years old now — the most reliable one I’ve ever used.

And it makes it fun to track how I do from day to day.

    Hi Faye,
Our friend, catdog, is on WW too. I’ve been a member of WW before.

I’m glad it’s working for you. Has your weight loss been constant?

  15. Posted July 26, 2007 at 10:04 pm | Permalink

Hi Katiebird, Yes I average 2 pounds a week and so far I have not missed a week. I am not sure you plateau with this plan of WW. I had thought I hit a plateau then realized I had picked up quite a bit of excess fluid eating alot of salt. I cut that back and lost 3 and 1/2 pounds that week then realized I hadn’t failed to lose at all. I had 3 people tell me that they can really tell I had lost. I tend to really retain fluid in my legs when I eat alot of salt. Faye

We’ve been working on the salt issue too. I track everything I eat in a program that breaks things down by nutrients. And it’s really, really hard to stay under 100% of my sodium goal.

KB – just out of curiosity – what is your sodium goal?

Since I started monitoring my sodium intake, I find that if I eat above 500 mg a day I gain like 2 pounds.

  18. Posted July 28, 2007 at 9:59 pm | Permalink

Hi Bombshell, I’m sorry I didn’t answer you yesterday, somehow I missed your question. I guess I was at work…

Well, I eat a lot more salt than you.

My goal is 1945.00 (mg), but I usually eat about 120% of that, 2347.78 (mg)

I’m consistent enough that maybe I would weigh a couple of pounds less. But, since I can’t seem to cut down to less than what I’m doing, I won’t know for sure.

We don’t add salt to anything ever. The salt we get is just in the canned foods (mostly we add canned tomatoes to meals and canned refried beans) and foods like potatoes that have a fair amount of sodium naturally.

Still, when I first started tracking this, I ate a LOT more. So I’m getting better.
