August 28, 2007 — Just 4 Today, In Focus

Just 4 Today I'llJust 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once!), drink 2 liters of water (so far, about 1/2 liter), walk 5 miles (yesterday – 4.89), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.

I’ve been logging everything I eat in Nutribase until a couple of weeks ago.  But, lately I’ve gotten sloppy about it (logging breakfast & lunch but not dinner.)  So far I’ve stayed on track.  HOWEVER — this is an early sign that I might be losing focus.

So, JUST Today I’m going to log everything I eat — either directly in Nutribase, or in a paper journal (If I’m not near a computer).  And use that paper journal to get caught up the next time I’m at my computer.

What are you going to do today?

    Morning KB.

J4T I’ll drink 2 liters of water, and I’ll finish the lawn. Only got the front yesterday before it got too hot.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning, FamilyMan! It’s good to see you. We lucked out with our lawns last weekend — the weekend was amazingly cool. It’s back up in the mid 90s this week, so I’m glad we don’t have to mess with it.

    Morning katieb and FM.

I’m going to go for a walk at lunch, as it’s going to be a nice day here.

That’s a big task doing food diaries … but really provides useful information. I’m not familiar w/ Nutribase, but I’ve used others that can calculate the amt of nutrients (cals, fat, vits, etc.) so I’m thinking it’s similar? Good luck on getting back on track. You can do it!

Yep that’s the reason I’m out doing mine, because I haven’t been messing with it. I’m so ready for winter. :)

Olivia!! It’s GREAT to see you! Nutribase is a pretty fun program. It’s got all that nutrient data, plus it’s very flexible. I’ve created recipes of stuff we eat regularly. And meals of recipes that we eat regularly.

So, logging breakfast is just a click. And my regular sandwiches are all recipes, so I just pick and choose what I’ve eaten.

And our regular dinners are already in there too. So, it’s pure laziness that I haven’t been posting lately.

My dad spent A LOT of money to buy this program for my birthday and that seems to give it more importance than if I’d bought it myself.

Thanks for the encouragement — I need it.

I’m going to take a longish Lunch Walk too. We could (virtually) do it together?

My morning weigh-in tells me I’ve gained three pounds since last week. I’ve been eating richer and walking less. That changes just for today.

Hi kansas! Olivia and I are taking a walk together this afternoon. Would you like to join us?

I’ve been eating too much bloatium [sodium] and despite counting calories I am now a fat-@$$. I gained 2 lbs.

    J4T I will:

    1. Work hard yet felicitously.
    2. Count calories.
    3. Not eat any salty food.

Hi Bombshell, I like that idea of “Work hard yet felicitously” How did it go? And did your eating goals work out?

  14. Posted August 28, 2007 at 9:05 pm | Permalink

kansas & Olivia, I didn’t have a camera on any of my walks. But, I’ll happily pretend that I saw Olivia’s view on my walk.

Olivia, that’s beautiful — thanks for posting the link!

Lordy… if I had views like that on my walk, I’d be walking more often for sure!

Here’s hoping everyone’s day wasn’t as crazy as mine, but I got the beans soaking & I’ll be cooking in the cube tomorrow. (Eeeeeeevil grin)

I just binged. Really really badly. I haven’t binged this badly in about a year.

After a normal day of eating and calorie counting….

    I ate…

4 small bags of microwave popcorn
1 large bag of microwave popcorn
    5 cans of soup
1/2 of an entire large canister of raw Ovaltine powder, straight up
    2 hot chocolates
    1/2 a gallon of soymilk

I know why this happened too. I have these vitamin supplements that I take in case calorie counting makes me miss out on some essential nutrients. I was having REALLY bad PMS AND I had not been disciplined about taking my vitamins for about the past five days. I started having SEVERE cravings for salt and chocolate (probably craving calcium and magnesium, two main ingredients in my supplements) …. in order to make up for the backlog of missing nutrients my body told me to go insane and binge.

    I hate myself now!

I thought I had cured myself of binging! Its been like a year siince I binged! God, it feels SO horrible! I feel HORRIBLE. My stomach feels like hell on earth!

Oh God… I seriously hope this was just a temporary relapse and not an indicator that I haven’t sucessfully cured myself! I feel totally weak and powerless. : (

    I GTG back on track!

Oh God I swear I will take my vitamins every day from now on! I feel like such an idiot for not taking them. This all could have been avoided! I am taking them tomorrow even though I feel like never ingesting anything ever again!

Why wasn’t I thinking rationally… I could’ve just opened a jar of calcium chews and ate those until I felt good!

    Oh, Sweetie….

My Charm bracelet has REALLY helped stop me from mindless eating. I habitually touch it as I walk toward the kitchen and it sort of snaps me into focus.

Would getting a charm bracelet or ring or necklace help you?

It’s too late to change today — but maybe we can think of ways to help slow things down for the future.

I was just shutting down the computer to go to bed. But, I’ll be back early-ish in the morning.

    {{bombshell}} It’ll be OK. Really.
