September 27, 2007 — Just 4 Today

Just 4 Today I'llJust 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once!), drink 2 liters of water (about 1/2), no walking again today (yesterday from just a couple walks around the block & a test walk to the track — 2.64), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.

Well, today’s the big day — My projects come due later this morning.  Somehow everything came together yesterday.  And it looks like we’ll have some shiny new pages later today on our website.

ALSO yesterday, I continued to do those foot exercises.  AND I’m going to start wearing athletic shoes to work for a week or so.  AND we’re wondering if the pain is from a new “foot rest” I’ve been using.  Which isn’t a foot rest at all — just mister’s amplifier.  The pain in my left foot especially got very bad last night after I had my foot up on the thing for several hours.   SO, I’m not going to be doing THAT for a while.

Thank you very much for your kind comments and thoughts.  We’ve got a wonderful support group, don’t we?  After today, I’ll be around a lot more — I’ve got a 3-day weekend!! And I’m off tomorrow!!

What are you going to do today?

  1. Yay, 3-day weekends are always great! Projects have a habit of coming together just when you’re ready to give in to despair, huh?

Sounds like you’ve found the most traditional pain remedy of all: “It hurts when I do X.” “So don’t do X.” :D

J4T I’ll drink my water, take my meds (forgot the Ripitmore last night), and listen to my “I’m full” switch. I’ll get a walk in at lunch, no prob because I’m working at home today, and get at least halfway through this new feature writeup.

  2. !! Hi FAR (I love it when people stop by before I leave for work) !!

I forgot my morning medication yesterday — I HATE that. By the time I get home & notice, I’ve been flooded with blood sugar all day. Hmm. Maybe I should add the medication & blood testing to my affirmation or Just 4 Today….?

You’re lucky if you have an “I’m full” switch — and you SHOULD listen to it! I don’t have one. And can only rely on measuring out the amount of food that I KNOW is enough. And stopping there.

Well, off to put on those athletic shoes and go to work (and maybe some outside-clothes too)

  3. Many congrats on the successful outcome of all that hard, intense work! And on figuring out (most likely) the cause of that foot pain.

  4. Take care of those feet– and thank heavens you don’t have the boss I used to have who insisted that, with a promotion, I had to wear high heels !

Of course that was a long time ago and my present supervisor, a woman, would never think of saying anything that stupid….

Here’s hoping you get some time to rest and relax after all this pressure. What nice thing can you do for yourself this weekend ?

  5. Good morning KB and everyone.

Glad to hear you figured out what going on with your feet, and that you’ll have a long weekend to relax.

J4T I’ll drink 2 liters of water, and after a no sleep night, I’m going to nap a lot today.

    Hope everyone’s day goes well.

  6. Hi Kansas — I’ve missed hanging out with you this week. I’m VERY glad to be done. I meant to post those links to my pages here, but did it in my response to FAR…

And, yep — the heel seems a little better today.

Are you rested up for your travels?

  7. Hi catdog,

I actually DID have a female boss who tried to make me wear high heels back when I first stopped wearing them. I’d been hit & run-over by a car – in the parking lot at work by a co-worker – and it TOTALLY wrecked my left knee. And while it was healing, I got a stress fracture in my right foot (from not taking any time off work)

She seemed to think that after a couple of weeks I should be back in Heels. But, I told her my doctor forbid it. She slunk off and came back a week or so later saying HR said it was OK. Like I cared. Not too long after that, SHE started wearing athletic shoes to work.

  8. LOL at the chicken salad chicken! That was cute….

Heels? Oh, GMAFB. It’s the 21st century. I wear tennies or biker boots to work, depending on my vehicle of choice. I have never had a pair of formal shoes that didn’t hurt my feet.

  9. Thanks FAR, They come up with a lot of fun stuff. This is one of my favorites.

And that high-heel episode was actually still technically in the 20th Century — 1990.

(giggling at the thought of FAR in High Heels)

  10. Man… when I was a kid, they wouldn’t let us play with our food. Now that we’re adults, I see we’re playing with the kids’ food!

Me in high heels. Ouch. I wore a dress to a Hallowe’en party, about 10 years ago. Daughter Dearest, who was 8 at the time, was thoroughly NOT amused.

Shoes. Yeah. I had an episode of what Mrs. Fetched thought was gout a while back (could have been something from my karate classes though), and I wore my Birkies to work because they immediately made my toe feel better. Since the weather was cold, I wore socks as well. My boss’s comment? “They used to wear white socks and sandals to work in Topeka a lot, but I never saw it anywhere else until now.”

  11. Ah, I’d forgotten that year I spent in Topeka (1977) — that must be where I got the habit!

I’m sorry to be so slow to reply. I’ve been reading your post and Olivia’s excellent comments. And trying to come up with something worthy….
