September 28, 2007 — Just 4 Today

Just 4 Today I'llJust 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once!), drink 2 liters of water (about 1/2), no walking again today (yesterday from just a couple walks around the block & a walk to the track — 2.73), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.

I’m home for the weekend. This morning mister has a Stress Test & I’m going with him. I’m worried about it. It seems like those often reveal pretty serious problems. I guess it’ll be good to know the facts. But I’m still nervous.

And now I’ll repeat what I wrote in a comment yesterday just ’cause I’m THAT happy:

These are the pages I worked on. I didn’t do the design or first draft of the code. But, I did a lot of cleanup and graphics: Kids pages & October Activities for Kids & Teen Pages.

It was all scheduled to go live at 10 am & I made the deadline!

Oh, and in a few minutes, I’ll be watching Bruce Springsteen (BRUCE!) on the Today Show. I KNEW I should have gone to New York for the Weekend! :)

What are you going to do today?

  1. Morning KB.

I hope Mister’s stress test comes out well, and you have nothing to worry about.

Those pages look great and congrats on making your deadline.

J4T I’ll drink 2 liters of water. I’ll also make a concerned effort to get things done around here. Got a lot of rels coming in for Homecoming this w/e.

Hope everyone has a good day and w/e.

  2. I had to do a stress test back when they found the high blood pressure. To me, the worst of it was how it highlighted just how out of shape I was at the time. My heart rate maxed out (as far as they wanted to see it) on a brisk walk. Now I’d have to get a brisk job or a full run to get it that high. Mister will do fine, I’m sure.

J4T I’ll drink my water (1/3 done), get a walk (no prob since they’re bringing in lunch today), and update my preliminary documentation for the final push to release. Oh, maybe get some of the stuff done for the next round, too.

  3. Hi Guys!!!

We just got back from the test — Everything is GREAT! He passed with flying colors! They said nothing but good stuff. AND relieved my mind that high blood pressure doesn’t lead to an enlarged heart. Which is something I’ve worried about since my cousin died a couple of months ago.

But, the doctor DID say that stress IS a cause of high blood pressure. And mister’s mother is a very stressful roommate. She’s a bad roommate.

So, that’s something we’ll have to work on.

    !! I’m so HAPPY.

FamilyMan, I hope you have a fun weekend with the relatives.

And FAR, I hope your writing projects go smoothly.

    !!

  4. YAY, kb! I’m SO glad the tests went well. Now if you could just reduce his stress…..but in the meantime, I’m relieved that you don’t have to worry about that any more.

The pages look great! I didn’t know you worked for the library system – how very very cool. My college roommate ended up being an elementary school librarian in Syracuse – and I found the library here today!! You get to play around books ALL DAY. Lucky, lucky you.

I hope you have a relaxing weekend – I need to get some writing done, and of course there’s football – me and fam on the couch!

  5. BIRTHDAY?? It’s Olivia’s birthday and I didn’t know??? I’m sorry, Olivia!! Happy Birthday! See what happens when I disappear for a day? I hope you’re having a great day, and being treated well by your hubby, and finding special ways to celebrate.

  6. Hi Beth — I don’t think there’s a hope of reducing stress. Our daughter just announced that she’s moving in on Sunday. Our son just moved in. And of course, his mother has been here all along.

Things were crazy all afternoon. But, for now, there’s peace.

Thanks for the kind words about the pages. Working near books IS fun — but it seems to surprise some people that I don’t actually get to read all day!

  7. Beth, I’m an idiot — I just went back to Olivia’s place and discovered that it’s ANDI’s birthday, not Olivia’s birthday.

So all day I was sending birthday wishes to the wrong girl.

  8. I did the same thing! You’re not an idiot – she didn’t say it was andif’s birthday on the front! :-) I bet she’s been laughing all day.

    Hippo birdie, andif!!!

  9. I guess being the oldest of 8 kids has come in handy in my later years. While part of me wants the couch all to myself (mister’s got his own) — the other part remembers the years when there weren’t enough chairs for everyone and the big kids (me being the biggest) always had a kid or two on our laps.

So, a couple of extras here or there doesn’t seem like THAT big a deal.

And the kids are GREAT roommates. It’s the MIL who’s the pain.

  10. You are a double-saint for having her live with you – not many folks can do that. Maybe the kids will make her a little easier to bear. Eight kids?? WOW! It’s hard to imagine having more than just a sister – sounds like you had a houseful. I bet your holidays are crazy!!

I decided to work on my website instead of my book – I’ll get back to my story tomorrow. It’s all work, right??

I’m going to have to drive through KS on my way back west next spring, so I can meet you and kansas!!

  11. Thanks, kb! It’s on my list – “drive through kansas”!! I have a friend in Hutchinson, but have never stopped in the state except for gas – I’ll have to change that this spring. Now that i know THREE people there!!

If I can get my website content written this weekend, I’ll be thrilled. I just wish I had a book to promote!! If I need advice, I’ll ask your expert opinion!

  12. He passed with flying colors! They said nothing but good stuff.

    \/\/ () () + !!! [told ya!]

Bummer about all the people moving in… you know I can relate to that, and to having in-laws faaaaaar too close. You know the email if you want to vent….

  13. (smiling) Hi FAR! Yep, we’ll have a lot going on. And I forgot to mention that both kids have dogs. And the boy has a girl friend & the girl has a boy friend. AND the boy’s girl friend has an 8 year old daughter. Luckily so far the appendages have their own apartments or at least their own families.

And the girl might be only staying for a month or so. so.

It’ll be OK, won’t it? I might start wishing I had a chicken house to hang out in.

  14. Holy cow! It just gets more – interesting. :-) Let’s hope the kids spend more time with their main squeezes than they do at your house. Dogs, too – wow. If FAR doesn’t have an extra chicken house, I have a nice quiet guest room here in FL if you need to escape!!

I repeat. You are a saint.

  15. Oh, okay – the reply came to me, then I couldn’t find it on here. I thought I was imagining things. :-)

We all define saint in different ways. And there are varying degrees of saint-dom. You fit, in my world.

I’m off to bed. Talk to you this weekend! Thanks for keeping me company tonight.
    xoxo
