September 29, 2007 — Just 4 Today

Just 4 Today I'llJust 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once!), drink 2 liters of water (about 1/2), walk 5 miles (yesterday — 4.84), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.

I announced in the comments yesterday that mister passed his stress test with flying colors!  He’s still got blood pressure that’s a little too high, but the doc changed his medication a little for that.  And the doc said that he won’t need to take the test again.  Sadly, he forgot to wear his pedometer during his stress test, so he didn’t get any credit for that 10 minute run.

We learned yesterday that another of the kids (the girl) will be moving in with us for a while.  So, I’ll be inside today moving things around (throwing things away) to make space for her and her dog.  I’m sure I’ll find a lot of excuses to take a break and poke my head in here.

What are you going to do today?

    Morning KB.

Glad it went so well for mister. On the high blood pressure. It runs in my family, and I’ve been on BP meds for about 15 years. I’ve never experienced any problems so far. Just stay on those meds.

With the kids moving back, it sounds like you need to have my lottery dream. To have enough money where I could build a compound with a big house and cabins all around so every visiting rel could have their own place for as long as they liked. Plus when I didn’t want the rels around, I could lock the doors and put an Out to Lunch sign on the front door. :)

Don’t work too hard on getting things moved around. Let the kids do the majority of that.

Ah, what a dream! That would be wonderful. But, if I leave the moving around to the kids — I might end up with the good stuff at the bottom of the piles….

Tell them that this is something you’ve been looking forward to doing with them, while making sure that during the moving and sorting that they do all the work. You need to take a slackerly approach to this. :)

Hi Have to bow before your greater wisdom and experience — it sounds too good to pass up! :)

Ahhh KB. In the land of lazy there are many paths that can be taken. :)

Now I’ve got to be unlazy and straighten up a little bit more before the rels get here today.

    Remember to slack when possible.

    See ya.

    Morning katieb and FM!

Katieb … sorry about the confusion yesterday around the bdays … :)

Like FM said, that is great news about the test. And positive reinforcement to keep up w/ his regimen.

I like FM’s plan … along w/ those cabins we could hire cleaning and cooking staff too … :)

Good luck w/ the sorting and organizing katieb!

I just got back from a walk in the woods — it smells so good at this time of year.

Hey Olivia, if you had the money to build a compound like that, cleaning, cooking and a gardening staff would be a given. :)

Hi KB– Great to hear the stress test came out well. However, sounds like your personal stress level is going to go up. Having extra family members in the house, especially ones who are, themselves, in stressful situations, does nothing positive for one’s own stress level. That’s probably a large part of why I packed on the pounds, myself.

Today I went to WW and discovered another 1.2 lbs. missing. Best news I’ve had in awhile, and I plan to continue the trend this coming month. I think that the cooler weather will make outdoor exercise easier for me.

Taking a look at your library pages made me remember that these kinds of resources are here, too. Sometimes I spend so much time on one or two parts of the internet that I forget about stuff like that…

One thing I did discover on the ‘net last night, thanks to the NY Times.com–The Morgan Library and Museum– http://www.themorgan.org/index.html
Now I have to go to NYC again, and take a look at what sounds like a totally amazing place !

It’s Sunday. While Mr. took a nap to make up for getting up way too early, I decided to sort out the miscellany in my top dresser drawers. Not very interesting you say ?

Well, I went to the Activity Calculator website and found that the couple of hours I spent STANDING UP while doing that used up 350 calories.

Why is this significant ? Because last night I had a piece of boysenberry pie. Standing for that amount of time, sorting things, expended around the same number of calories as that piece of pie contained.

Lesson learned: You don’t have to walk miles to use up extra calories— regular housework or other simple tasks done standing instead of sitting will do the trick.

I also checked my BMI, which I haven’t done in awhile, and was pleased to note I’m down a full 10 BMI points from where I started last year. A bit to go yet, but a lot better than it was !

The stuff in the drawers ? Some of it’s going into recycling and some of it’s going to a white elephant sale next week at the parish fiesta. The rest of it’s a lot more organized than it was.

Hi Catdog, Sorry to be so slow back to you (and I guess I didn’t even post anything this morning…)

It sounds like good news all around. And I’m interested in EVERYTHING you say. Today, I took all my top-drawer junk and put it in a box. And I wore a pedometer while I lugged all the various boxes around. And it added up to 3 miles!

So, you’re absolutely right — it all adds up.
