September 20, 2007 — Just 4 Today
Just 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once!), drink 2 liters of water (about 1/2), walk 5 miles (yesterday — 5.38), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.
I want to thank everyone for your concern and good wishes. That spin out was the least of the things that went wrong that day. My sister and brother-in-law were in an accident (two boys with cones on their heads ran out from between two cars & one landed on their windshield. He’s got a broken leg.) And when I got home, my daughter told us about her experience with the dentist I sent her to.
Which was totally horrible. He filled cavities in 4 teeth (Top & Bottom of both sides) without ANY numbing/pain killer. This guy has been wonderful working on my teeth — I thought I’d found a family dentist. But, when she told him it hurt, he just switched drills! I was still so angry yesterday, I couldn’t type a word.
And today, I have a screaming headache — a reaction to on-going-rage, yesterday’s lack of sleep, the excitement of International Talk Like a Pirate Day or the horror of Kid Nation. I’m hoping that coffee and a walk will get rid of it. The Headache, I mean.
I’m afraid the horrors of Kid Nation will be around for a while. And I’ll probably watch every moment of it. How could the parents of those kids allow it? There were children as young as 8 years old sent there. That little guy was a heart breaker. He kept telling everyone that he was to little to be there and wanted to go home. As cute as he was, the best part of the show was when he walked out the door, it was a triumph.

September 19, 2007 — Just 4 Today
Just 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once!), drink 2 liters of water (about 1/2), walk 5 miles (yesterday — 5.25), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.
Do you ever have the sort of day that doesn’t go as planned? For me, yesterday was that sort of day. First, I couldn’t get into ANY Blogger blogs or Google at all. It was embarrassingly late in the day before I remembered that there were other Search Engines. But, it turns out just about all my favorite blogs run on Blogger and there’s no substitute for them!
From there, the day got progressively more out of control (including – but not limited to – the moment when my car spun in a perfect circle on the East Lawrence exit ramp landing exactly backwards.) Things didn’t calm down until after 11 p.m. which is my bedtime — but that didn’t happen until nearly 1 p.m. last night.
There’s no particular lesson intended by this report. I didn’t make incredibly bad choices (fish & chips for dinner) but I didn’t do anything too horrible. It’s not great that the fish & potatoes were fried — but it’s not like I’ve given up all fried foods forever.
I’m just letting you know what’s going on in case I curl up under my desk at work and forget to leave for the rest of the week.
