Just 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once!), drink 2 liters of water (about 1/2), walk 5 miles, NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds?
How was your weekend? AND
What are you going to do today?

Morning, katieb! Weekend was busy entertaining my friend. And eating way too much, although we did pretty well, all things considered. So just for today, I will go back to my normal eating habits, and go to Curves, and try to get back on track. How about you?
Good morning KB.
J4T I’ll drink 2 liters of water and I think taking the trash out to the curb is about as far as I ‘m going today. My 4 y.o. grand nephew is already up, and he’s playing with George, and we’re watching cartoons.
Good Morning Beth & FamilyMan,
Beth I’m glad you had such a nice weekend. Mine was ok, but I’ve had a sinus headache since Thursday. I THINK I might be allergic to the dog we’re babysitting.
FamilyMan, I wish I could stay home and watch cartoons with you. A friend from work lent me a Popeye DVD and I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet…
Good morning katieb, Beth, and FM.
I’ve been fighting off a cold too, but I think it would be best to just come down with it and get it over with. I hope you feel better katieb … sinus h/as are painful!
Olivia!! We’re finally both here at the same time. I stopped by your place and LOVE the photos of leaves. But, I seem to be mostly in lurk mode today, so I haven’t posted.
I know what you mean about fighting/getting-over colds. I think I’m a little depressed that this sinus thing seems to be allergy — because you don’t really get over that. And I was hoping to adopt a dog of my own in the spring. But, I don’t know if I can if it means living like this.
Don’t write off all dogs, kb. It could indeed be something else – just a bug. And even if it IS allergies, there are dogs whose coats don’t kick off allergies. And you can grow in and out of allergies – I used to not be able to be in a house with a cat for more than a couple of minutes. Now I’m completely fine with them. There’s hope!!
Sorry you’re sick – be good to yourself today!
Hey everyone!
This weekend was mostly about Daughter Dearest, of course. I guess I’ll have to skip a couple of meals to give what I ate this weekend a chance to process. But J4T, I’ll drink my water and try not to work too late.
I’m not a dog person myself, especially since Big V’s stupid yapper had to run into the woods for his pee break & drag back a piece of blackberry vine in his hair, as long as he is. I had to cut it into pieces so I could hold the squirmy yapper & get it out without shredding my fingers on the thorns. Thank God he’ll be back at her place by the time I get home tonight. But anyway, I understand that large poodles (small ones too??) are hypoallergenic.
Could be all this change in the barometer, too, Kb. That’s what gets me.
I hope you feel better soon!
hi, everyone! the weekend was good, although I did treat myself to a decadent meal yesterday that included mashed potatoes and ribs. Oh well, we all need rewards every now and then, no?
J4T I will drink at least 2 liters of water, not snack between meals and be conscious of the nutritional value of all my food to motivate myself for better choices in the future. This evening I will spend some quality time with my bouncy ball and ab roller thing-a-ma-bob. Have a great week!
Amusing mental image: Manee chasing bouncy ball thrown by dog….
I walked to lunch today, which gave me the added benefit of getting some circulation to wind-chilled hands. I rode the motorcycle to work this morning & probably should have added a sweater or zipped in the quilted liner.
Addendum: getting cold burns calories — which would explain why I’m getting hungry at 4p.m. Off to drown it with more water.
My weekend was a mess. I was stressed out and let it get to me Saturday night.
I had a day and a half seminar Friday/Saturday, had too much to eat there, both days, although I tried to focus on the lovely fresh fruit, went out to (Mexican) restaurant for dinner Friday night(took half home), had fried chicken for dinner Saturday night (I did take off the skin), and tried to pull it back together Sunday, with some success.
The weather yesterday was lovely, today has been gloomy all day. I think the fall thing is getting to me. Not exactly seasonal affective disorder, (aka “SAD”), but something akin to that.
OTOH, I had to use a safety pin on my skirt today to keep it from falling off.
I need sunshine !
Catdog: Sorry you had a sketchy food weekend, although it sounds like you did all you could to make it as healthy as possible.
I have horrible SAD – gets exponentially worse every year. Homicidal and suicidal all at once! Hence my spending this winter in Florida instead of Idaho, where winter lasts 6 months and the sun comes out once a month.
Congrats on the skirt falling off!
Sending Florida sunshine your way -
OK, I’m apologizing in advance for this, but just after I posted the above, I got this in an email from a friend– obviously it’s a joke.

Subject: Why Wal-Mart won’t let me shop there anymore
Yesterday I was buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my dog
Summer at Wal-Mart and was about to check out.
A woman behind me asked if I had a dog. On impulse, I told her that
No, I didn’t have a dog, and that I was starting the Purina Diet again.
Although I probably shouldn’t, because I’d ended up in the hospital
last time, but that I’d lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way
that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and
simply eaton e or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is
nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. (I have to
mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now
enthralled with my story.)
Horrified , she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog
food poisoned me. I told her no;
I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish
Setter and a car hit us both.
I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack,
he was laughing so hard.

Beth– You would think in “sunny southern CA” I wouldn’t be having this problem, but I just don’t do so well when the days get shorter and shorter and there’s no sun in the morning to help me get going.
Looking out the window at fog all day just doesn’t do it for me.
I am neither homicidal nor suicidal at this point, but I sure do feel slowed down, lacking in motivation, and just generally wishing I could see the sun.
Thanks for the postive thoughts.
Yep, sounds familiar. Fog all day would indeed be pretty gloomy. I finally broke down and bought a happy light that I used for 20 min every morning before I got out of bed as soon as the sun disappeared. It helped keep me sane. Hopefully this weather trend will pass, you’ll get used to the length of the days, and the sun will come back out and cheer you up. Sending warm wishes.
Hi all. Late to the party. Weekend sucked, when my fever finally subsided I then worked on fall chores. No fun at all.
Sorry, Boran! Sounds like not much fun. Hope the fever is gone now, and you plan to relax and not do chores next weekend!
(starting from the bottom)
Boran, I’m so sorry you’ve been sick. Are you feeling better now that your fever is gone? (I hope)
Beth & catdog, I didn’t realize you have SAD/near-SAD. My Seattle sister has it too — It’s pretty rough when bad weather hangs on and on. I don’t know how she stays there . . . I think (if I were her) I’d do like Beth and move (for at least part of the year) if things were bound to be bad for months.
Catdog, does bad weather stick around for a while when it comes? I’ve never spent much time in SoCal.
catdog, That’s a FUNNY, FUNNY joke! Thanks for passing it along.
FARfetched, Now you’ve got me picturing Manny playing with the Ball! And did you find a good afternoon snack?
Manny — I’ve been thinking about Taco Bell ever since I read that post at your place. But, I still don’t want to eat there!
Also, Manny — it’s not so much WHAT you eat (is it?) as HOW MUCH you eat. We have (country-style) ribs & mashed potatoes all the time (well a couple of times a month) but we always measure our portions and I think we do OK. We don’t use BBQ sauce though. I guess that could make a difference.
kansas — I forgot about weather-related sinus problems. Maybe that is the problem! (crossing fingers)
xxoo to everyone. I’ve GOT to go to bed.
