December 18, 2007 — Just 4 Today

Just 4 Today I'llJust 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once), drink 2 liters of water (I’ve drunk about 1/2 liter), walk 5 miles (yesterday 5.53), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.

Sleeping has been a battle for the last 3 or 4 nights.  I FALL asleep just as I usually do. Then about 2 hours later I wake up and instead of falling right back to sleep, I find myself feeling bright as a penny. I swear that one night it was 1-1/2 hour before I fell asleep again.  So far what seems to work is promising myself that I can get up in 10 minutes to read on the couch.  I guess it takes the stress away — I relax & fall asleep.  So far.

What are you going to do today?

    Afternoon KB.

I had one of those nights last night. I went to sleep and woke up at 12:30 am, but I was so wide awake that I stayed up and cleaned around the house. At the moment I could sleep, but I won’t let myself. Didn’t even take a nap today. Usually when it’s one of those nights I stay up puttering around the house and then try to go back to sleep at my normal time. But I am dragging right now. :)

Hope your sleep is problem free tonight.

Sleep ? What’s that ? I sleep so little when I’m out of town. Got about 6 hrs. last night for the first time since last week.

But before I went to bed there was the trip to the vet with the cat– who didn’t make it. 16 1/2 years. R.I.P. PJ.

However, the eating is under control, even if there’s no exercise. Rain and lack of sleep = no walking/treadmill again today….

{{catdog}} I’m so sorry. This has been a terrible Fall for you. Was your cat sick long?

I keep thinking about this Poor Woman:

The cat was in failing health the past couple of months. After so many years, no big surprise, just sadness. The grandling, 8 years old, has never known the world without him.

I’m going to miss him. No kitty on the bed, bothering me to get up in the morning– which he was doing not two months ago it seems.

    Hard to believe.

Ah well, time to pack it in and get on to the next assignment…..

I guess it’s good to have that transition period. But, even when expected, it can be a shock. When our dog died a couple of years ago it was months before I stopped seeing him out of the corner of my eye. And I still sometimes see him. Which is sort of nice….

Hi kb. I’ve been having similar nights lately. Sometimes it takes a while to fall back to sleep but I’m usually okay if I relax. For some reason I have a particular problem Sunday nights, right before my week begins. Stress?

Hi Boran, Stress. That sounds very possible. I’m sorry you’re suffering from it too.

And FamilyMan — that sounds terrible!

Yeah, all kinds of transitions. Had another person come in today I hadn’t seen for awhile– he was surprised at how much weight I’ve lost.

Has anybody besides me noticed that people are really careful to say something along the lines of “I hope it isn’t because of illness”– I almost feel like laughing sometimes. Almost.

I’ll be seeing that cat out of the corner of my eye for awhile, I’ll bet.

I guess I do so much blabbing about my weight goals that just about everyone knows it’s work & not illness. Also, I think the people I went the longest without seeing never saw me at my greatest weight (since I wasn’t really social during that period).

My California cousins noticed when I went back last summer. But I think they read E4T sometimes so it wasn’t a shock.

And I do think those ghostly pet sightings are a comfort more than anything.
