Just4Today: July 31, 2008

Just today, I’m not going to eat between meals and I’m not going to take seconds. And I’ll weigh myself and use Nutribase and the tools of The Hacker’s Diet to help me reach (and keep) my goals.


And Just 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice, drink 2 liters of water , walk 5 miles, NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.
We’re waiting for the fog to burn off so we can start mowing lawns.  That’ll be my main walk for the day.

And Just 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice, drink 2 liters of water , walk 5 miles, NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.

I think things are coming together into a routine.  One of my plans was to help my parents for a few hours every day (or weekday at least) doing anything they might want.

My dad and I have been working on a computer project off and on for over 20 years.  But, with me working full time (in fact he was still working full time back when we began it) and the routine emergencies of life — we have a spurt of progress and then have to set it aside for months or even years.

And I could be helpful with projects around the house.  Or just company on a lazy day.  Whatever — there’s almost always something, isn’t there? But they weren’t really into the idea of me coming every day — it seemed excessive to them.  And four days went by where I didn’t visit.

Well.  When I showed up yesterday my dad told me that he WOULD like me to come everyday!! It seems he makes more progress on his goals if he knows I’m going to show up to discuss them.  Ain’t that the truth —  maybe now we’ll see something happen!

OK, I’ve weighed myself AND taken my fiber supplement. I’d be off for my first walk, but I think it’s raining. There’s a heavy mist at the very least….

So, today I’m going to get started on a project that’s been hanging over my head for a couple of years. I’m going to make a list of books to begin the process of either selling them or donating them to a charity. In either case, I’ve got to have a list. (bleh)

This is a test — I haven’t done ANY of my goals. In fact, I just woke up and haven’t even had coffee. I have met my affirmation of weighing myself (Looking GOOD!) But, I’m deliberately writing this before fiber and breakfast and walking or any other progress reports.

For me the single most important part of my day is making this post. The days I don’t post my Just 4 Today are unfocused and hectic. But the days when I post here are dramatically different. So, I’ve decided that rather than wait until I’ve got something to report (which all to often results in missing the post all together) I’m going to post my Just 4 Today goals as early as possible. Then I’ll add my updates through the day — just like everyone else.

Just 4 Today – Still adjusting….

And Just 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once), drink 2 liters of water (I’ve drunk about 1/2 liter), walk 5 miles (yesterday, 5.31), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.

In another unscheduled break, I’ve missed a visit from Bombshell.  And I miss her dreadfully!  I think I missed catdog at the last one. (shaking my head) I should have expected it — but I’ve never made such a big change in my life and had no idea how the upheaval would affect me.  It turns out that pressure to “write something” before work was a critical aspect to my blogging.

I’ve continued to be good about walking and NOT eating between meals (I ALMOST went out for ice cream last night though)

I’ve been invited to write health care posts at a political blog though — and that woke me up.  I can’t justify writing for another blog if I’m not doing it hear….. Can I?
