I&#039;m reminded of when I was pregnant, and gaining more weight than I wanted to, and the midwives were saying to watch it. I&#039;m short and gain weight easily when I don&#039;t watch my diet or exercise regularly. I also had been having heartburn. So, I made a deal with my husband (now my ex-): He was to ask me, as I was raising the fork to my mouth, sometimes after taking seconds, &quot;are you really hungry?&quot; or &quot;do you really want that?&quot; His prompt made me check in with myself, re: was I just going for the taste or really hungry? I lost weight, because my self check-in made me put the fork down. I realized most of the time, that in that moment, I wasn&#039;t really hungry.

One thing that I have found that helps me is to remember to drink water. I have learned that I mistake hunger for thrust.</description>
