Saturday, what a difference a rule makes
I’m not going to eat between meals and I’m not going to take seconds. AND I’ll walk at least 3 mile, take my fiber supplement and drink 2 liter of water.
I also weighed myself today. I don’t know if it was magic or Mister but, the scale re-appeared yesterday afternoon. So how could I resist? It was pretty much all good news — I weigh almost exactly (actually a little less than) what I weighed the last time I did this. And that was sometime before Thanksgiving!
So I guess enough of my Eat4Today goals powered my eating through the holiday and the terrible-horrible-no-good-winter that my weight DIDN’T balloon out of control after all.
Here’s the thing. I started this ‘don’t eat between means & don’t take seconds & walk at least 3 mile & drink 2 liters of water’ thing in July of 2005. And by January 2006 when I started this blog, I’d lost 30 pounds — and, all these years later, I’ve never gained back that 30 pounds.
(I hope this isn’t too much information) My weight since starting Eat4Today HAS fluctuated pretty dramatically & that’s kind of got me down. But, I think it’s a pretty fantastic feat that after nearly 5 years, I haven’t come close to regaining all the weight I lost. In the past – without the nagging reminder to NOT eat between meals & not take seconds – I would have regained all that weight AND more. And more.
That’s the difference a rule makes.
The Doers . . . .

ESTP - The Doers
I couldn’t resist the total cuteness of this drawing.
This is how Typealyzer interpreted Eat4Today’s personality:
ESTP – The Doers
The active and play-ful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities. The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.
I only wish it was true.

It's Grand Opening Day!
Welcome one, welcome ALL!
Eat4Today is almost 2-1/2 years old, growing out of my commitment to getting a grip on my weight as a way to get a grip on my blood sugar levels. And my inability to refrain from babbling about the process on other people’s blogs. (HEY! katiebird, get a blog of your own!) So I got a blog of my own.
As our tagline states, this is “a place to discuss food and eating and the state of the world.” And a careful parsing will reveal that virtually nothing is off topic here. Still, most conversations revolve around health issues. You might want to avoid the place on Oscar night though…..
Each day around here begins with my goals for the day. And everyone is encouraged to post their goals in the comments. When things get going (and summer is the slow season, so don’t be surprised if they don’t get going for a while) there’s some good supportive conversation about HOW to stick to the goals. And it can be a bit of an open thread.
We also like to talk about the process of making/keeping/reaching goals. Some of the steps involved are A Vision, a Plan, a Commitment, an Affirmation and Action. Oh, and whining. Every successful strategy to get a grip on health involves these concepts. I think.
I can’t tell you how happy I am to be back in business. These last few weeks (months) have been a miserable struggle. But this nice shiny room has perked me right up! (Maybe I will actually TAKE that walk today….)

December 28, 2007 — Just 4 Today
Just 4 Today, I’ll drink my fiber twice (done once), drink 2 liters of water (I’ve drunk about 1/2 liter), walk 5 miles (yesterday – 5.71 !!), NOT eat between meals & NOT take seconds.
Throwing away the rest of the Chocolate & Candy that Santa didn’t put in stockings…. Done (and buried at the bottom of the trash) I wonder what part of “Addicted to Sugar” I don’t understand?
What are you going to do today?

I know it’s late-ish but if you’d like a Christmas Card, send me an email (katiebird@gmail.com). I’ll need your US Postal address and both your username and real name. Or just either one….
I’m in the mood for Christmas and I’d like to share it!
