E4T Fruit and Vegetable Bar

I’m inspired by kansas who yesterday said:

“Speaking of fruit plates, my supper the last two nights has been chopped up cantelope and strawberries with cottage cheese. It’s my version of ambrosia, especially when the cantelope is as perfect as it is right now.”

I had no idea that canelope was perfect right now. Why did I have to miss the Overland Park Farmer’s Market last Saturday? I’d have some ambrosia tomorrow myself if I’d gone!

But, I promise — I’ll get that fruit plate from the Diner today.


What is a serving, anyway? Or how much broccoli do have have to eat?

Several of us have been talking about the need to eat more fruits and vegetables. And on Monday we’ll start a new feature (as an experiment, anyway) — The E4T Fruit and Vegetable Bar. Which will be a midday discussion area for sharing ideas for vegetable recipes and ways to trick ourselves (if necessary) into eating more fresh fruit.

And today monalisa raised the question, What is a serving, anyway? Which makes now a good time for me to jump in with an answer — or at least a source:

I actually didn’t realize that a serving of broccoli was so little! I wonder what else I should learn about the 5-9 a day plan?


Eat 4 Today – The Commitment (Day 6)

I’m not going to eat between meals and I’m not going to take seconds. Just today. And I’m going to try it for a year.

Saturday is our shopping day. We’ve kept a list all week of groceries and household supplies and other objects that need. And later today we’ll go out and buy them. Among the other things I’m going to buy is another food journal. Continue reading
