January 15, 2006: The Announcement

Just for today I’m not going to eat between meals. 3 meals.
This has been a big day at E4T, but I haven’t eaten, except for breakfast & lunch.
Tomorrow, I’m going to talk about the importance of those two meals. And how to plan for them.
[...] Finally I discovered The Commitment, and it has changed things. I’ve got a way to control my destiny by myself (and about 50-100 friends who visit with me everyday for conversations about food and eating and other health issues.) And once again I’m approaching a reasonable weight. [...]
[...] Last night I confirmed my belief that it’s a good idea to weigh myself everyday. It’s an idea I’ve mentioned several times in The Commitment articles but I know Weight Watchers discourages daily weigh-ins on the theory that people lose faith in their system if they don’t see weight loss every time they step on the scale. But, I’m not really looking for weight loss (although I’m happy to see it show up.) I’m just checking up on myself — I’m not going to be taken by surprise by another 25 lb (or more) weight gain. [...]
[...] Because (if you are doing it right) you really are doing The Commitment just today. And if your getting enough sleep, that’s really just 16 hours or so.1 Even less if you count times like getting dressed or driving when you probably wouldn’t have been eating or even snacking anyway. So figure about 14 hours if you make The Commitment today. [...]
[...] This is the last month of my year-long experiment. And while I consider it a success (how could I not?) I know that my daily affirmation will change next year. I’m pretty sure the daily weigh-in and walking will figure into it. And I’m hoping that The Hacker’s Diet will provide more insight as well. [...]
[...] Up at the top of my left sidebar I ask, “Isn’t it time you made a commitment?“, but couldn’t it just as well be, “Isn’t it time you found your dream?” [...]
[...] Not exactly. If weight-management was that easy to do, we wouldn’t all have our own libraries of diet books on that bottom shelf over there. Successful techniques for managing weight don’t just differ from person to person, they differ for each of us from day-to-day! That’s one of the most frustrating things about The Commitment and why it took a blog for me to start to get a grip on it. [...]
[...] been looking through some of my past posts (The Commitment series) and it’s been enlightening to read about my goals and plans from last summer. What I [...]
